Reading on the couch or reading on the bed?
I usually find beds more comfortable than couches for reading. To me, it’s essential to be relaxed whenever you get intimate with a book to be able to center your thoughts fully on the reading.
Main character: Male or Female?
No gender preference as long as the character is gritty, tough and interesting. I also prefer portrayals of flawed personas: broken, imperfect characters (think anti-heroes for example) who try to grind out life or barely hang on to it.
Sweet or salty snacks while reading?
Anything that goes with an ice-cold beer.
Trilogies or quartets?
I’m not a fan of any kind of sequel and prefer standalone novels.
First Person or Third Person POV?
Both have their charm depending on the way the story is constructed and the form of narration. The important thing is to offer a clear and good insight deep into the character’s mind and thoughts.
Night or morning reader?
Night reader and night person all-around.
Libraries or book stores?
Book stores just because they have a more casual feel to them.
Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?
Any book that has the power to convey an emotion deeply and fully.
Black or White book covers?
I tend to choose darker covers and am biased towards darker stories because they illustrate brutal truths very few of us have the courage to write about or face.
Character driven or plot driven stories?
I prefer character-driven stories because they tend to expose the evolution of people in a clearer way. I’m interested in how different parts and events in a story can influence characters in different ways.
